LEGICRAWLER CEO TO JOIN FORMER MICROSOFT CISO
IN ADDRESS TO NETWORK SECURITY EXPERTS
|
| Beckie Krantz, CEO of Legicrawler, and Karen Worstell, former Chief Information Security Officer of Microsoft, will speak to top network security experts next month in Seattle. They will address the Seattle Secureworld Expo on October 29 at Bellevue's Meydenbauer Convention Center. Worstell, the former Microsoft CISO, is now Managing Principal of W Risk Group, a leader in risk management, information security and IT optimization. She and Krantz will assess proposed and contemplated government measures regarding network security. Worstell is internationally recognized in the field of information security; she helped create an insurance facility for IT security risk underwritten by Lloyds' of London. "We're going to discuss how to get a 'leg up' on compliance issues," Worstell said. "What generates proposed rules and legislation? How can you and your company influence the outcome? How do you monitor evolving governing standards so as to satisfy international security and privacy standards, as well as state and federal statutes?" Krantz will also demonstrate Legicrawler's automated tools for effective issue- spotting and tracking. She will show how Legicrawler's suite of email alerts, interactive maps and social networking tools enhance customized tracking lists. Before co-founding Legicrawler in the early 1990's, Krantz designed her first online database for the Washington State Supreme Court, where she worked after law school. That was the era of dial-up bulletin-board service. Legicrawler now compiles real-time reports of the latest information with modern social media tools in a seamless interface. The simultaneous combination of data from multiple servers in one interface is known as "cloud computing." It's a hot topic in the world of computers. "We said good-bye to software years ago," said Krantz. "All applications now are written for the web. 'Cloud computing' offers great potential for programmers -- including those at Legicrawler -- but these innovations make network security issues ever more important."
